- Onions: All parts of the onion plant are toxic to dogs. Whether it’s raw, cooked, fried, or powdered, avoid giving your dog onions. If you think your dog may have ingested onions, keep an eye out for any signs of lethargy, weakness, decreased appetite, fainting, or reddish urine, and bring them to your local vet immediately.
- Garlic: Garlic is poisonous to both dogs and cats and can cause damage to the red blood cells. Signs of garlic poisoning may be delayed and not apparent for a few days. Keep an eye out for signs of lethargy, increased heart rate, weakness, and collapse, and contact your vet immediately in case of an emergency.
- Avocado: Avocados contain a toxin called persin, which can cause serious health problems - even death - in many animals. Although dogs tend to be more resistant to this toxin than other animals, you should still avoid giving your pup avocados.
